Can I Don't Give Annual Leave and Medical Leave?

As an employer, that I am about to hire 2 contract non-manual staff and both salaried more than 2500. Do I need to provide them annual/sick leaves?

I have phoned MOM and understood that I don't have to, but I wish to know what the normal practice should be since I don't want to mistreat my employees!

Employer can choose not to provide Annual Leave for employees who are not covered until Employment Act Part IX , which defined as follows:
(a) to workmen who are in receipt of a salary not exceeding $4,500 a month (excluding overtime payments, bonus payments, annual wage supplements, productivity incentive payments and any allowance however described) or such other amount as may be prescribed by the Minister; and
(b) to employees (other than workmen) who are in receipt of a salary not exceeding $2,000 a month (excluding overtime payments, bonus payments, annual wage supplements, productivity incentive payments and any allowance however described) or such other amount as may be prescribed by the Minister.

However, employer is required to provide minimum 14 days of Medical Leave and 60 days of hospitalization (which inclusive of 14 days medical leave) for all employees.

Common practice in Singapore, for executive or corporate office, minimum 14 days annual leave will be given to all. For hospitality and f&b industry, the annual leave usually started with 7 days for 1st year and incremental basis every year up to 14 days at 7th years of service.
