Compassionate Leave Stated on Employment Act?

Any MOM stated rules and regulations on Compassionate Leave?

No, compassionate leave is non-mandatory in Singapore and it is not stated in Employment Act of Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

It is at company discretion whether to decide
1) Whether to grant compassionate leave to the employees
2) The number days for compassionate leave
3) Eligibility period
4) Who are the family members

We encourage the company to grant the compassionate leave, as these leave is not something employees wish to have it but they need to have it.

3 working days within one week from the date of the death certificate

3) Eligibility period
Usually is immediate, even new employee is eligible.

4) Who are the family members?
Parent, parent in law, siblings, children, spouse and grandparents. Most of the companies do not grant for demise of grandparent-in-law.
