If public holiday falls on Sunday, are the employees who work on weekend shift required to work? Can they claim overtime if they are working on that day?
Weekend shift usually refer to the shift work where the employees are required to work on Saturday and Sunday, and additional 1 or 2 days of designated weekdays.
If Public Holiday falls on Sunday, the weekend shifter shall not work on that day because it is a Public Holiday on their working day. However, if they are required to work due to operation needs, it shall be treated as overtime based on Public Holiday rate.
