How to Calculate the Decimal Point on the Pro-rate Annual Leave?


Based on Employment Act, in calculating the proportionate annual leave under subsection (2), any fraction of a day which is less than one-half of a day shall be disregarded and where the fraction of the day is one-half or more it shall be regarded as one day.


Basically, according to Employment Act,

Leave pro-rated from 1.00 to 1.49 shall be considered as 1.0 day leave
Leave pro-rated from 1.50 to 1.99 shall be considered as 2.0 day leave

However, most of the company practice 1/2 day leave in the company. As such, common practice in the market as follows:

Leave pro-rated from 1.00 to 1.24 shall be considered as 1.0 day leave
Leave pro-rated from 1.25 to 1.49 shall be considered as 1.5 day leave
Leave pro-rated from 1.50 to 1.74 shall be considered as 1.5 day leave
Leave pro-rated from 1.75 to 2.00 shall be considered as 2.0 day leave
