Calculation the Eligibility Year of Childcare Leave

Do the above mean that employee whose child is born in year 2005 will not be entitled to childcare leave in 2012 regardless the month the child is born? Since the entitled years are 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010,2011? What if the child is born in 31 December 2005?

The eligiblity of childcare leave can be calculated based on the date of birth of the child. If the child is born on 31-12-2005, the child will reach his 7 years old on 31-12-2012. Hence, the employee shall be eligible for the childcare leave from 2006 to 2012.

To further clarify, the number of days of childcare leave that a working parent can benefit from will add up to a total of 42 days over a seven-year period.

I understand where you coming from, while the company has the flexibility to use the calendar year or the anniversay year to calculate the Child Care leave, it means that if your child is born on 31-December, and unless you stay with the same company for the next 7 years, otherwise, you will potentially lose out the first year of Childcare leave eligibility.
